Libby Burgess
Audiology Assistant
Libby is thrilled to have joined the SLA Audiology team. She studied communication sciences and disorders at Butler University, and she actually had an audiology course with Dr. Shannon. She then went on to receive her master’s degree in speech-language pathology from Saint Louis University. Following several years of working as a speech-language pathologist, Libby decided to take a step back from full-time patient care. Seven years ago she joined the audiology field and previously worked in an audiology and ENT private practice.
Libby now looks forward to her role as an audiology assistant at SLA Audiology because it is a good mix of patient care, troubleshooting, and administrative tasks while still practicing her skills in a related field. She loves working with patients and making a difference!
Libby will be assisting Tina with patient scheduling and administrative tasks; assisting Dr.Shannon and Dr. Katie with various hearing aid and patient-related tasks that include performing hearing aid cleanings, minor repairs, and troubleshooting; and providing instruction to patients on proper hearing aid use and care, as well as providing strategies for managing hearing loss and evaluating patients’ progress.
Problem-solving and helping patients are Libby’s favorite aspects of her job. She also loves serving our community, as she lives and works in Brownsburg. When she’s not working, Libby enjoys spending quality time with her family. Libby and her husband have a son, daughter, dog, and cat. She also loves reading, hiking, kayaking, and traveling!
