"I love that I do not have to ask people to repeat themselves for me in meetings."
Frustration and fear came when I first noticed my hearing had changed, and I wasn’t sure I wanted to find out what was happening to me. I didn’t have any concerns about contacting SLA Audiology, but I was nervous about the testing. My first impression was how friendly and welcoming everyone made me feel. The clinic explained what was happening with my hearing and the path forward. Now, with hearing aids, I can hear sounds I hadn’t heard in years, like the buzz of the refrigerator or tiny birds. It took a few weeks to get used to all the background sounds, but I love that I don’t have to ask people in meetings to repeat themselves. The staff and audiologists are welcoming, will ease your concerns, and explain the technology available for better hearing. My favorite thing is how much they care about their patients.

"You will be absolutely amazed once you can hear again."
I’ve always had problems with my left ear as a child, and years of factory work damaged my right one too. It became impossible to carry on a conversation in public without asking someone to repeat themselves. My biggest concern was the cost and not knowing if I could afford hearing aids, but after walking into SLA Audiology, I was relieved by the professionalism and felt like I’d known them for years. Now, I don’t have to ask anyone to repeat themselves, I can participate in conversations, and my wife loves that the television volume doesn't run her out of the room. The clinic is never too busy to listen to your concerns and always ready to help at a moment’s notice. You will be absolutely amazed once you can hear again. Shannon and her team are top-notch in customer service and will treat you like family.

"You’ll not get better audiology care elsewhere. You’ll feel listened to and considered in their care for you!"
Asking people to repeat themselves more often and having trouble hearing the TV made it clear my hearing was changing. I didn’t want my husband to have trouble because the TV was so loud, so I got tested, and sure enough, I was having problems. Since then, I feel more a part of conversations and don’t need to ask people to repeat as much. The TV is lower now for my husband too.
My main concern was whether insurance would pay for hearing aids, but Shannon helped me work through an affordable option, and now insurance companies are becoming more relaxed. I always enjoyed Shannon’s frank and sincere assessments; she really knows her stuff. With my hearing aids, I hear better and enjoy my music and podcasts without hunting for earbuds. I’m also Bluetooth-connected to my phone, so I can answer calls more easily. Everyone in the office is my favorite thing about working with the clinic. If you’re concerned about your hearing, you’ll not get better audiology care elsewhere. You’ll feel listened to and considered in their care for you!

"Hearing aids have made my life better, and it is easy to make appointments at the clinic."
Being able to hear a little more made me realize something was up with my hearing. I had some concerns before contacting SLA Audiology, but my first impression was their compassion and concern. Hearing aids have made my life better, and it is easy to make appointments at the clinic. If you are concerned about your hearing, I would say try it.
Carol C.

"My favorite thing about working with the clinic is the friendly staff."
After over 30 years as an educator, most recently as a school administrator, my hearing challenge became clear. When I began struggling to hear discussions with students, teachers, and parents, I felt helpless and embarrassed from always asking people to repeat themselves. My first impression of SLA Audiology was very positive, the office was very clean and the people were friendly. My favorite thing about working with the clinic is the friendly staff. If you are concerned about your hearing, do it for yourself.

"No need to be concerned! Dr. Austin and her staff are the BEST! Hands down!"
Decreased hearing has been part of my life since my late 20s, and I was diagnosed with otosclerosis at 30, leading to surgeries in both ears. For more than half my life, I have felt self-conscious, especially in crowded places with background noise where I could barely make out what people next to me were saying. I had no concerns before contacting SLA Audiology because Dr. Austin came highly recommended by friends, and I first took my mom, who also has otosclerosis, to see her. As a nurse for 37 years, I was totally impressed with Dr. Austin’s care. She explained everything so well, was kind and caring, and genuinely wanted to help people have the best hearing possible.
I started wearing hearing aids last fall and vividly recall hearing everyday sounds for the first time in years, like my husband trying to get caramel out of his teeth or the sound of a paper towel crumbling in my hand. There is no need to be concerned about visiting the clinic. Dr. Austin and her staff are the best and do everything they can to make hearing aids affordable. I honestly feel like they are my friends and know they have my best interests at heart. Every visit feels like catching up with old friends.
Jennie C.

"I was super impressed by the way the clinic explained my hearing test results."
A getaway with my daughter made my hearing loss impossible to ignore. After several days of her having to repeat herself, she insisted that I address the issue. My fear was not being able to get accustomed to wearing the hearing aids.
A friend I play pickleball with highly recommended SLA Audiology. I was super impressed by the way the clinic explained my hearing test results, and the staff are my favorite thing about working with them. If you are concerned about your hearing, don’t wait, you’re missing out on life.
Judy L.

"Hands down, they will do a great exam and let you know the results at this appointment. Everything is explained in an easy to understand way."
My biggest concern was that my right ear was ringing. I had no clue that I had hearing loss, especially due to occupational hazard. I had been referred by several people telling me that SLA Audiology was the best, so I had no concerns before contacting them. Previously, I had taken my 93-year-old mother-in-law to a different audiologist and was not impressed, but my first trip to the clinic was extremely welcoming, thorough, and explanatory. I felt a connection with the audiologist and knew I was in the right place.
The hearing aids have made a huge difference. My first impact was turning on the television, before, the volume was at 23, but with my aids in, it only needed to be at 12! I must have been blaring out the neighborhood. I also now realize my friend Denise was actually saying real words in the car, not just mumbling. Everyone in the office is very kind, sweet, and extremely knowledgeable. Hands down, they will do a great exam and explain everything in an easy-to-understand way. I thought my husband had hearing problems, never even dreamed that I did, although, he needs to make an appointment!
Marcia S.

"Now, my favorite thing is just being able to hear sounds again and not missing out on life."
Sleeping on my right side around age 35 meant I couldn’t hear my alarm, which was when I first noticed my hearing problem. My left ear was the first to lose hearing, and getting used to hearing aids took a while, but once I did, I could hear birds singing and other sounds I had taken for granted. Over the years, as my hearing got worse, I worried there might not be a strong enough hearing aid for me, but SLA Audiology got me fitted with a powerful device from a brand I liked. They were very helpful and made me feel comfortable with my choices, making sure I could hear as normally as possible in different situations. Now, my favorite thing is just being able to hear sounds again and not missing out on life. The clinic is the best, very helpful and personable.
If you’re concerned about your hearing, don’t go another day missing the sounds around you. Set up an appointment and get a pair of hearing aids so you can enjoy the world again.
Cheryl M.

"Hearing aids have made life so much easier."
It took me a while to admit I needed help with hearing loss. I noticed that I couldn’t understand people right next to me unless I was reading their lips, especially in crowded places or restaurants. Luckily, I had a friend who had a serious hearing problem and had great results with Dr. Shannon at SLA Audiology, so I scheduled an exam and started with hearing aids. At first, the aids took some getting used to, but after a few months they didn’t bother me. Now I can really tell how much better I hear when I put them in every morning. My only initial concern was thinking that “only old people” need hearing aids, but that’s not true. My first impression of the clinic was that everyone was friendly and professional.
Hearing aids have made life so much easier. I’m confident in group settings that I’ll hear what the conversation is, and I no longer dread going places where hearing is difficult. I used to remain silent, but now I take part. Dr. Shannon and Tina have become really good friends. Since I travel over an hour to get there, they even called me one day when I had an appointment to warn me of bad weather so I could reschedule. For anyone concerned about their hearing, I’d just say: try them!
Lisa C.

"No need to procrastinate and make your immediate family be frustrated with you not hearing them. Make the appointment."
I realized something might be up with my ears when the issue, though not a huge concern, was confined to just one ear. This localized hearing loss led to me not wearing my aids consistently. When I first contacted SLA Audiology, I had no preconceived fears because my hearing loss was isolated. My initial impressions of SLA Audiology were very positive, as they were professional and genuinely interested in understanding my needs. Since wearing my hearing aids more consistently, I have become more comfortable in restaurant and business meeting settings. For anyone concerned about their hearing, I would advise not to procrastinate and ignore your family's frustration; make the appointment. My favorite aspect of working with SLA Audiology is that it is an owner-operated business, providing individualized care, unlike other places where I often saw a new technician each time.

"Shannon invests the time to really understand what you think about how the aids are helping and what may need to be adjusted."
About 15 years ago, I began to notice trouble with my hearing, particularly through comments from my wife about my misunderstanding of words. Additionally, movie outings became challenging due to difficulties following dialogues, attributed to high-frequency hearing loss. It all crept up slowly. My initial experience seeking help involved a different audiologist and Siemens hearing aids around 2011, which lacked personal adjustability and introduced distortion—leading me to give up. However, a year later, my cousin observed my struggle and let me try his Oticon hearing aids briefly. Despite not being personalized for my hearing loss, they were markedly better. My wife knew Shannon from SLA Audiology, and soon I had a properly set-up pair, realizing quickly that I needed them. For nearly 12 years now, I've exclusively used Oticon aids, wearing them consistently except when sleeping or showering.
My first impressions of SLA Audiology, having previously known Shannon Austin from Whisper Hearing, were positive. Shannon is incredibly customer-focused, and having her own business nearby only enhances customer support. Shannon and her staff strive to find the best solutions for their clients. In fact, I've referred friends who have also had favorable experiences. I cannot live without my hearing aids; without them, typical speech recognition is arduous. The aids offer a range of volume controls and can be adjusted individually by buttons or through an app on my smartphone—a crucial feature for adapting to various conditions. For anyone concerned about their hearing and considering SLA Audiology, rest assured you'll receive personalized service. Shannon allows for trial periods to ensure an informed purchase decision. My favorite aspect of working with SLA Audiology is the very technical yet personalized service. Shannon invests time to truly grasp how the aids benefit you and what adjustments might be necessary.

"You won't find a kinder, more knowledgeable or friendly audiology office."
After the birth of my first child, I experienced a very high fever, and aspirin was prescribed, which caused my ears to ring and eventually led to a hearing loss. Initially mild, it progressively worsened over the years, leaving me feeling somewhat isolated. Before contacting SLA Audiology, I wondered if the hearing aids would help and was very self-conscious about wearing them. However, my first impressions of Shannon at SLA Audiology were remarkable. She is like no other—gracious, reassuring, and knowledgeable—and I felt very comfortable with her from my initial visit to the present day. Wearing hearing aids has no doubt improved my life. As my hearing loss has progressed, so has my realization of their necessity become evident to me. If anyone is concerned about their hearing and considering visiting SLA Audiology, I would say you won't find a kinder, more knowledgeable, or friendly audiology office. My favorite thing about working with SLA Audiology is their sensitivity to your situation and their knowledge to find the best solutions, all performed with kindness and compassion.

"My hearing aids have given me the ability to interact with the hearing world that I remember as a young adult. Priceless."
The moment I first realized I had a hearing challenge was three days after oral surgery. As a young adult, I was panic-stricken, wondering how I would ever survive this loss. For the next 45 years, I struggled to find an appropriate solution until I was introduced to Dr. Austin. Reflecting back, I wish I had discovered her practice much sooner, as I was completely blown away at my first consultation. Dr. Austin was the first to take my hearing loss seriously and design a solution around me, the patient, rather than just pushing whatever hardware had been sitting in inventory. My first impression of the clinic was that they were genuinely patient-centric, caring, and dedicated to working with me, not just for me. Since getting hearing aids, I've regained the ability to interact with the hearing world I once remembered as a young adult—it's truly priceless. To anyone concerned about their hearing, I would urge you not to wait as long as I did. Schedule your consultation now. My favorite thing about SLA Audiology is that everyone in the office sees how my improved hearing enhances my life every day.
William S.

"They will not regret their visit."
The moment I first realized I had a hearing challenge was when I frequently misunderstood what was being said, which was very upsetting. Before contacting SLA Audiology, I was concerned about what the hearing aids would look like in my ears. However, my first impression of SLA Audiology was very positive; everyone was pleasant, informative, and helpful. Now that I have hearing aids, I can hear again, which has been life-changing. To anyone concerned about their hearing and considering a visit, I assure you, they will not regret their visit. My favorite thing about working with SLA Audiology is the friendly, kind, and well-informed staff.
Mitchell P.

"Once I got my hearing aids, it was a game changer. Didn't realize truly how much I was missing."
I first realized there was a problem with my hearing when I found myself asking people to repeat themselves multiple times. I knew then that it was time to get this looked into. Before contacting SLA Audiology, I had no preconceived fears or concerns. My first impressions of the clinic were extremely positive, as they were knowledgeable, friendly, and professional. Since getting my hearing aids, they've been a game changer in my profession where listening is essential. I hadn't realized how much I was missing out on before. To anyone concerned about their hearing, I have recommended and will continue to recommend SLA Audiology to anyone who asks me about wearing hearing aids. My favorite thing about working with them is their friendly, caring, and helpful nature whenever I need to chat or have things checked out.

"Hearing aids have kept me active in social activities; my family and friends enjoy not having to raise voices."
I first realized I had a hearing challenge when I found myself constantly asking my family to talk louder and needing the TV to be turned up. It became clear that my hearing wouldn't improve without help. Before contacting SLA Audiology, I had researched the office and felt happy to have made an appointment. My main concern was whether they could help me as I wasn't hearing very well with my four-year-old hearing aids. Thankfully, the answer was a resounding yes. I now have new hearing aids and can enjoy conversations with my family and friends without difficulty, and they are pleased that I can hear them clearly.
Walking into SLA Audiology, my first impression was positive—the nice office set a happy tone, and the friendly receptionist welcomed me warmly. Meeting Dr. Shannon Austin, who greeted me with a handshake and smile, immediately put me at ease. Since getting my new hearing aids, I've remained active in social activities, and my family and friends appreciate not having to raise their voices.
To anyone concerned about their hearing, I would strongly recommend making an appointment for a hearing test to make an informed decision. Working with Dr. Austin and her team is fantastic; they genuinely care about your hearing and go out of their way to help. In my own experience, when I needed replacement filters while in Florida, Dr. Austin sent them to me promptly, showcasing the great service and reliability at the clinic.

"SLA Audiology is very professional, up on the latest technology, simply the best place to go."
I first realized something was up with my ears when I began searching for an audiologist. Initially, I was concerned about the experience of wearing hearing aids. However, upon my first visit to SLA Audiology, I had a good feeling and knew I was at the right place. Since getting hearing aids, my life has greatly improved—I can now participate in conversations and enjoy TV and radio like never before. To anyone concerned about their hearing, I would say that SLA Audiology is very professional, up-to-date with the latest technology, and simply the best place to go. My favorite aspect of working with them is that they make you feel very comfortable and truly stand behind what they sell.
Robert C.

"They view you as an individual and what your needs are. They don't just try to sell you a product."
The first moment I realized something was up with my ears was when the tinnitus initially became an annoyance. As an SLP, I was already aware of how hearing impairment could affect my daily interactions. Before reaching out to SLA Audiology, I wasn't particularly worried, but I did have concerns regarding hearing aids—how much they would help and their cost. My first impression of SLA Audiology was that the staff was very friendly and welcoming. Currently, I use over-the-counter hearing aids which have improved my hearing, but not to the degree I had hoped. For anyone concerned about their hearing and considering a visit, this is the place you want to go. They are thorough, informative, and truly listen to your concerns. What stands out most about working with them is how understanding they are, treating you as an individual rather than just trying to sell a product.
Michelle P

"You have nothing to lose and everything to gain."
I first realized I had a hearing challenge when I was a child dealing with ear infections and started losing my hearing. Before contacting SLA Audiology, I had no preconceived fears or concerns because I have known Dr. Shannon for many years. My first impression was that at SLA Audiology, I wouldn't just be a patient, but also a friend. Since wearing hearing aids, I've found that they allow me to be a part of the conversation, significantly impacting my life. To anyone worried about their hearing and considering a visit, I'd say that you have nothing to lose and everything to gain. My favorite things about working with SLA Audiology are their professionalism, friendliness, and caring nature.

"I have no problem referring folks to SLA Audiology. Well trained and very focused on meeting client needs."
I first realized that there might be a hearing challenge several years ago. My biggest concern at the time was being able to communicate effectively with my wife and family. Before contacting SLA Audiology, I didn't really know what to expect, although cost was somewhat of a concern. However, my first impressions were very positive—the doctor and support staff made a very good initial impression. Since wearing hearing aids, there has been noticeable improvement, although at times I still have to ask speakers to repeat their words. For anyone concerned about their hearing and considering a visit to SLA Audiology, I have no problem referring them, as the team is well-trained, extremely thorough, and very focused on meeting client needs. My favorite aspect of working with SLA Audiology is their highly focused attention on client needs above everything else.

"For anyone concerned about their hearing and considering a visit, I would highly recommend SLA Audiology."
I first realized there was something up with my ears around 2015. When I decided to contact SLA Audiology, I had no preconceived fears or concerns. My initial impression of the team was that I was very impressed by their professionalism and approach. Since I started wearing hearing aids, there has been a big change in my life—I can communicate and understand better. For anyone concerned about their hearing and considering a visit, I would highly recommend SLA Audiology. My favorite part about working with them is how they treat you like family.

"That quickly changed when I received my first pair of aids and realized how many wonderful sounds I was missing."
For months, my family insisted that my hearing was weak, but I denied it. Eventually, I made an appointment with Shannon at SLA Audiology to prove them wrong, but, as it turns out, they were right! Fortunately, I found Shannon and have been with her for about eight years now. Initially, I was concerned because at 52, I didn't want to need hearing help—I felt too young for hearing aids. Shannon, however, helped me find the best device and guided me through all my apprehensions. She's the best! My biggest concern before contacting SLA Audiology was wearing hearing aids. I was vain and embarrassed to have them, but that quickly changed when I received my first pair and realized how many wonderful sounds I had been missing. My first impression of SLA Audiology was that Shannon was welcoming and knowledgeable, and I have had only positive interactions with her and her staff. Now that I wear hearing aids, my hearing is sharper and clearer, which has made communication, social interactions, and life more enjoyable. If you're concerned about your hearing, I would say schedule an appointment with SLA Audiology; it's the best decision you can make, and you won't be disappointed. My favorite part about working with SLA Audiology is their genuine concern for my issues, prompt scheduling when I have concerns, and their clear explanations of my hearing tests to ensure I get the best hearing possible.

"Poor hearing robs you of so much in your life you should invest in fixing it. Skip your next vacation to pay for it if you need to so you can enjoy your life."
The moment I first realized I had a hearing challenge was when I found it increasingly difficult to talk with people on my phone, especially if there was background noise. Before contacting SLA Audiology, my main concern was whether or not hearing aids would be too uncomfortable to wear all day. My first impression of the clinic was that they were very professional. Since wearing hearing aids, they've transformed my life; without them, my social life would be non-existent, and my wife would be constantly frustrated because I couldn't hear her. Additionally, I would have had to change jobs as I relied on phone consultations often conducted in noisy environments, where hearing clearly was crucial. If someone is worried about their hearing and considering a visit, I strongly believe that poor hearing robs you of so much in your life, and you should invest in fixing it. You might even consider skipping your next vacation to pay for it if needed, to fully enjoy your life. My favorite thing about SLA Audiology is the wonderful people there who are genuinely doing their best to help you.
Harold B

"No need to worry. Staff is attentive and caring."
I first realized there was a challenge with my hearing back in November 2010 due to a viral infection in my right ear. Fortunately, I didn't have any preconceived fears or concerns before contacting SLA Audiology. My first impression of the clinic was that they provided outstanding attention to both patients and their needs. Hearing aids have greatly improved my daily life, and to anyone concerned about their hearing, I'd say there's no need to worry as the staff is attentive and caring. My favorite thing about working with SLA Audiology is Dr. Austin—she embodies what I wish all physicians were like.

"I had a great experience and was happy to confront my problem with their help."
Not hearing family and friends during conversations made me realize I had a hearing problem. Sometimes I even answered with a crazy answer because of miscommunication. I was worried that outside noises would overwhelm me, but my first impression of SLA Audiology was their kindness and understanding of the difficulties I was experiencing. I wear my hearing aids while around people and at work, especially working at a school where they help me manage many levels of sound. Being able to control the extra sound really helps, and I usually take them out at home to rest.
My favorite thing about the clinic is the ease of getting help when I need it, always with kindness and speed. I had a great experience and was happy to confront my problem with their help. I would definitely recommend them to anyone concerned about their hearing.
Sandy R.
"I feel more secure knowing I can hear everything around me."
Large groups and background noise made it increasingly difficult for me to hear, and since I grew up with rock and roll, I knew tinnitus played a role. Of course, I was concerned about cost since insurance did not cover it, and I had heard of places nickel and diming clients. My first impression of SLA Audiology was that they were very friendly and professional. Dr. Shannon does a great job educating me on what is needed and what is not necessary. The office is very fair and accommodating, and I feel like I am cared for, which is a sign of excellent healthcare. At first, I was very conscientious about wearing hearing aids, but now I feel more secure knowing I can hear everything around me. I tell people to consider doing this sooner rather than later because addressing hearing loss can support quality of life and relationships.
Rhonda C.
"The staff are comforting and never rushed."
Hearing challenges have been part of my life for over 30 years, starting with losing hearing in my left ear while my right ear compensated well for a long time. About four years ago, my hearing shifted slightly, but it made a huge difference and I knew it was time to seek help. I wasn’t surprised, but I was frustrated and annoyed at having to ask people to repeat themselves. Still, I always knew hearing aids would be in my future and believed I could get help, so I kept calm and carried on.
When I first visited SLA Audiology, Shannon and Tina were just great, friendly, knowledgeable, and willing to go the extra mile to help me. The environment didn’t feel like a typical doctor’s office, and both are funny, which I really appreciated. The staff are comforting and never rushed. If you’re concerned about your hearing, do it for sure!

"I cannot imagine life without hearing aids. From work, social, parenting, and everything between, life is good when I have my hearing aids."
I took action once my children were noticing my poor hearing. I knew I did not hear well and never wanted to be one that had to wear hearing aids. I was worried about cost, and just the fact of wearing aids at a relatively young age. From my first visit to SLA Audiology, I knew I had made the right decision. Shannon and the team were welcoming and made me feel at ease. The customer care at the clinic is second to none. Shannon and her team truly care about your hearing needs, and I drive from Greenwood to Brownsburg to receive the best hearing service available in the state of Indiana.
Wearing hearing aids has been absolutely life-changing. I cannot imagine life without them. From work, social, parenting, and everything in between, life is good when I have my hearing aids. I would recommend the clinic to anyone looking to better their hearing situation.
Tony G.
"Go have your hearing checked, listen how they will treat you, you’ll be glad you did."
Talking to clients and missing parts of the conversation, along with my wife pointing it out, made it clear I had to get my hearing taken care of. My first impression of SLA Audiology was that I felt very comfortable and confident that my hearing would improve, and that it wouldn’t cost as much as I expected. When I started wearing hearing aids, I experienced hearing things I hadn’t heard before, like birds and conversation. My favorite thing is that they always want to try and make your hearing experience the best as possible.
If you’re concerned about your hearing, go have your hearing checked and listen to how they will treat you. You’ll be glad you did.
Rex L.
"The hearing aids have made a big difference in my life."
At least four years ago, I was not hearing sermons and speakers at conventions. I had no concerns before contacting SLA Audiology because my insurance carrier had them on their list. Everyone was so friendly and made me feel comfortable. The hearing aids have made a big difference in my life. The first thing I do in the morning is put them on, and I love them. Everyone is so caring and there for you.
Sandy H.
"My experience has been positive because they explain all options and details and always make me feel comfortable."
Some years ago, I realized I was having hearing challenges. Taking that first step to contact SLA Audiology was a concern, but my first impression was that the clinic felt welcoming and professional, with comfortable surroundings that put me at ease. My experience has been positive because they explain all options and details and always make me feel comfortable. Hearing aids are still a work in progress for me, but I have noticed a great improvement.

"Her testing is beyond anything I have ever experienced in any other situation."
Being a very loud talker had always been part of my life, and trying hearing devices back in the late 80s and early 90s was not a good experience. I decided to contact SLA Audiology because Shannon had worked with my mother and father-in-law, both of whom had terrible hearing, and did a great job. When I called Shannon, I was surprised she answered the phone and referred me to her receptionist, and from there everything was a positive experience.
When I first met with Shannon, I told her there was a lot I probably never needed to hear. She helped me select equipment, and I have had several instances listening to songs I used to play where I realized I had no idea what all the background music was. She helped me understand that over 50% of the frequencies I listen for were gone, and she gave them back. If you have a question, they’ll answer it and if you need to be worked in, they will do that. The clinic is patient and helps you find the answers you need. For anyone concerned about their hearing, listen carefully to what Shannon says, her testing is beyond anything I have ever experienced.

"Now, I feel more engaged with people and do not have to constantly say “what?”."
Not being able to hear the television made me realize something was wrong, though I didn't want to think I had hearing loss. I was concerned that getting hearing aids would make me look and feel old. I was very impressed with how caring and personable Dr. Austin was. Now, I feel more engaged with people and do not have to constantly say "what?" My favorite thing is Dr. Austin and I would tell anyone concerned about their hearing to not hesitate.
William S.
"Without my hearing aids, it is like being in a silent room all by myself."
My daughter pointed out that I was missing conversations and asking people to repeat themselves before I was aware of my hearing loss. A medical doctor confirmed I had hearing loss and recommended Dr. Austin, who gave me an extensive exam and fitted me with a hearing aid for my bad ear. This put me back into conversations with family and friends. When Dr. Austin left for a while, I searched for another specialist but never found one I liked. Later, I discovered her new clinic while driving in Brownsburg and immediately knew I no longer had to search for an audiologist. I had no fear working with her because I trusted her from the start, and her concern, kindness, and knowledge make her a specialist who cares and becomes a friend. Without my hearing aids, it is like being in a silent room all by myself. I have even suggested to friends with hearing loss that they see Dr. Austin, and I keep hoping they take my advice.

"My first impression of SLA Audiology was very positive, with a clean, well-organized space and friendly staff."
Not being able to hear my grandchildren made me realize something was wrong. My first impression of SLA Audiology was very positive, with a clean, well-organized space and friendly staff. I would tell anyone concerned about their hearing to go, because there are no problems, it is a great experience, and they are very helpful. My favorite thing is definitely the staff.
Don N.
"Hearing aids help you hear and feel a part of life."
A sudden idiopathic hearing loss brought me to SLA Audiology. I was very impressed with the entire staff at SLA Audiology, their professionalism, friendliness, and the office's appearance. Hearing aids help you hear and feel a part of life. I really like and trust Dr. Austin. If you are concerned about your hearing, go as soon as you can.
Patricia E.
"I would definitely encourage them to visit SLA."
Being born with hearing loss, I have seen many hearing specialists over the years. I didn’t have any real concerns before contacting SLA Audiology, but my experience there has been the best. My first impression was that they were very good and caring. I love the Bluetooth feature on my hearing aids. Phone conversations are so much better and it sounds like the person is sitting right next to me. All the people at the clinic are great and really do care about you. I would definitely encourage anyone concerned about their hearing to visit SLA.
Carol K.
"No question that should be their first step, they have the latest equipment and great people to handle your hearing."
My wife kept telling me I needed a hearing test, which made it clear there might be a hearing challenge. Honestly, I didn't think I had a problem except for some ringing in my ears, and I assumed the clinic was just in it for the money. But my first step, talking to the receptionist, put me at ease. They cared about my hearing, not making a lot of money, and I was happy my wife had me go in the first place.
They recommended that I explore another option, and as a veteran, I received my hearing aids through that route thanks to the clinic's guidance. They were so nice and really concerned about my hearing. If someone is considering them, there should be no questions, this should be your first step. They have the latest equipment and great people to handle your hearing.

"Best decision ever made!"
A voicemail that sounded like a cartoon character was the first sign something was wrong with my left ear. I went to another doctor first and wasn’t happy with the hearing aid, but then I was recommended to SLA Audiology, and it was the best decision ever. The new hearing aids are so much better and even help with the tinnitus in my left ear.
Right away, I knew this was the place for me. Shannon and the entire staff are so friendly, easy to talk to, and answer all your questions and concerns. I feel like I’ve known Shannon for a long time. I highly recommend the clinic for all your hearing issues. Shannon listens to you, corrects any concerns you have, and helps with your hearing aids whenever needed.

"I was very happy to have them both back, allowing me to have better hearing and a better life."
For about 16 years, I have been wearing hearing aids. When my insurance company stopped selling the aids, I needed someone I could trust to help me find new and better ones. I was very impressed with SLA Audiology, especially with her knowledge and the assistance provided for affordable hearing aids. This year I had to send each one in for repairs, and with only one, my hearing was greatly diminished. I was very happy to have them both back, allowing me to have better hearing and a better life.
She is easy to work with and is concerned with both the patient’s hearing and financial needs. If someone is concerned about their hearing, I would say, "Do not wait; go talk to them."
Cindy W.
"The hearing aids have completely turned my world around. I can hear again."
Turning the TV to its highest level while my wife could hear it at half the setting made my hearing issue clear. I also struggled to hear colleagues at work and had to ask them to repeat themselves. I was concerned about the cost and what hearing aids would look like, but since I grow my hair slightly over my ears, you can't notice them. My first impression of SLA Audiology was that they were very professional and knowledgeable. The hearing aids have completely turned my world around. I can hear again. My favorite thing about working with them is their ability to quickly fix my problems. If you are concerned about your hearing, do yourself a favor and visit SLA.

"Just go for a visit. She can help you maintain your ability to communicate and be understood."
I constantly had to ask people to repeat themselves or start over with what they were telling me. It was frustrating for me and disappointing for others, who often thought I wasn’t paying attention, when in reality, I simply didn’t hear them. I felt like I didn’t matter and that my family thought I was ignoring them. I didn’t want a big, clunky thing in my ear, I just wanted to hear the start of conversations and avoid misunderstandings that had led to hurt feelings.
I first met Dr. Austin at SLA Audiology when I took my mother-in-law for an adjustment. Dr. Austin was kind, happy, and gentle, and the clinic was a new beginning for Maxine. The difference once I got hearing aids was amazing. They are light, fit well, and let me hear the details I was missing before. Cleaning them is easy and they are not a burden. The clinic is available, reliable, and truly interested in your hearing concerns. If you’re worried about your hearing, just go for a visit. She can help you maintain your ability to communicate and be understood.

"Personal service in this day and age is hard to find, but not so at SLA."
Hearing but not understanding what was said made me realize I might have a hearing challenge. Visits to other hearing aid centers made us feel that all they cared about was selling the top-of-the-line appliances, and cost was a big concern, so we avoided getting help. When we got insurance through an old employer, I decided to try SLA Audiology after my brother, who usually doesn’t like seeing doctors, raved about Shannon and the others there. My first impression was that everyone was friendly, welcoming, and thorough.
Wearing hearing aids has drawbacks, but I feel much more a part of conversations with my family and friends. My favorite part of working with the clinic is the people, they are so responsive and honest. Anytime I called with an issue, it was addressed. Personal service is hard to find these days, but not at this clinic. I’ve referred others to them and assure people there is no pressure to buy anything. Hearing checks are thorough, all questions are welcome, and answers are clear.

"The clinic showed real interest in my health and well-being."
Trouble understanding my wife while driving and hearing individuals in a group made me realize something was wrong. Before contacting SLA Audiology, I was concerned about how I would accept hearing aids, but to my surprise, they have been a great help. My first impression was great; I was relieved and impressed with the explanation of how my particular hearing aids would work. The clinic showed real interest in my health and well-being.
If you are concerned about your hearing, don’t put it off, get tested now.
David S.
"Worth the time and cost to get evaluated."
Missing some things on TV was the first sign of a problem. I had no worries before contacting SLA Audiology. My first impression was that they are friendly and skillful. The hearing aids help me hear a bit better in some situations, and it's nice to have my phone connected to the hearing aids. They know what they are doing and have lots of experience. It is worth the time and cost to get evaluated.

"Deciding to obtain hearing aids was one of the best decisions I have made."
My wife and daughter noticed my inability to hear, and although I did not think I had a problem, I agreed to get tested because I wished to make my family happy. My hearing issues started several years before moving to Indiana, and SLA Audiology addressed my needs after my second set of hearing aids were no longer working well for me. My first impression was of a professional audiologist who could properly address my concerns. After meeting and talking to them, I truly felt that I could trust them, and that is extremely important when making any medical decision.
Deciding to obtain hearing aids was one of the best decisions I have made. I would highly recommend that anyone concerned about their hearing contact the clinic to be evaluated.
Donald B.
"What I appreciate most is that they take as much time as needed for me."
Watching people's mouths as they spoke was when I first realized something was up with my hearing. It was subtle at first, but then I was sent to an ear specialist and had surgery on my right ear, which helped for a time. Over the years, I kept having to upgrade my hearing aid. Without my aid, I would be at a disadvantage, missing out on sounds around me, music, my great-grandchildren's laughter, and the birds.
I had no concerns before contacting SLA Audiology, just a strong desire to hear better since I'd already been to many audiologists. The staff were and are very nice and friendly. What I appreciate most is that they take as much time as needed for me. Hearing aids have kept me from ignoring everyone around me and let me fully enjoy life again. For anyone concerned about their hearing, call and get an appointment now, you won't regret it.

"SLA is definitely recommended as a place that will do whatever possible to help correct a hearing issue."
My right ear has been hearing challenged my entire life, and about 20 years ago I began to experience loss in my good ear, so I decided to get hearing aids. My previous audiologist could not adjust my new aids to work well, so when I first contacted SLA Audiology I was concerned that it was a bigger issue than just my hearing aids. My first impression was that everyone was very friendly and ready to listen to the issues I had experienced. Without aids I would be very much isolated from any personal interactions. The personal touch is my favorite thing, because Dr. Austin is concerned with more than just getting you hearing aids. She always asks how your hearing issues are impacting you and looks for solutions. SLA is definitely recommended as a place that will do whatever possible to help correct a hearing issue.
Steve P.
"Hearing loss can be very isolating. Hearing aids, if needed, really promote reconnecting with family & friends."
My husband and I were asking one another to repeat information and getting very frustrated with each other. SLA Audiology and Shannon came highly recommended, so I had no fears before reaching out. My first impression was that everyone was very professional and compassionate. I am now able to follow along in conversation much better, which has helped me reconnect with family and friends. My favorite thing about working with the clinic is the staff.
Terri R.
"My first impression was very good, which continues to this day, with very good service and real caring from the clinic."
Testing jet engines at work made my hearing challenge clear. My wife also noticed I was missing things she said, and of course, I didn't like that loss. I had no fear at all but did wonder if SLA Audiology could help me. My first impression was very good, which continues to this day, with very good service and real caring from the clinic. The hearing aids have helped me much more than without them. They are very caring and work at helping you. Absolutely visit them, you can't go wrong.
Tim W.
"I highly recommend them to anyone considering a visit."
Hearing loss had been part of my life since 2016, and it got progressively worse over the next few years. A visit with SLA Audiology confirmed what I thought was going on. The audiologist and the staff were really friendly, and there was an almost immediate trust in them. I really didn't have any worries going in since I knew I needed hearing assistance, it was just a matter of where to go. I was extremely lucky to choose the clinic without any recommendations.
My first impression was that they were super friendly as well as professional. There are no negative effects from wearing hearing aids, and I can hear much better, which is a big plus. My favorite thing about working with them is the friendly atmosphere, and I highly recommend them to anyone considering a visit.
Walt J.
"They are thorough and dedicated to helping you."
Hearing challenges have been part of my life since I was a young boy. My first impression of SLA Audiology was that it was clean, orderly, and professional. The clinic is thorough and dedicated to helping you, and Dr. Austin’s concern to help you hear properly stands out. With hearing aids, I don’t have to ask people to repeat most things now.

"I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. She truly listened."
I started experiencing hearing loss in high school, and now that I’m in my 50s, I decided it was time to challenge the stigma around hearing aids.
There were several reasons I finally got my hearing tested. I was tired of feeling left out of conversations at restaurants- anyone with hearing loss knows the routine: nod, smile, repeat. I had also stopped watching TV because of the volume I needed, relying instead on my iPad with closed captioning. And with both of my parents having had Alzheimer’s, I’m especially aware that social isolation - often linked to hearing loss -is a risk factor I want to avoid.
In 2026, I decided to take this seriously and called Shannon at SLA Audiology. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. She truly listened, addressed my concerns, and confirmed that my hearing loss was significant enough to benefit from hearing aids.
I’ve now been proudly wearing them for five months, and it has been life-changing. I’m back to watching TV, enjoying dinners out with friends without missing the conversation, and most importantly taking control of my health and well-being.
I’ve already recommended SLA Audiology to friends and family, and I will absolutely continue to do so.

"Please go visit! You can meet everyone and they are not pushy. They let you make up your own mind."
I first realized I might have a hearing challenge as a nurse, when I couldn't hear my staff or patients as well. Despite this realization, I approached SLA Audiology without any preconceived fears or concerns. My first impressions were incredibly positive; Dr. Austin and Tina were so friendly and kind, and I felt comfortable right away. Since starting to wear hearing aids, the impact on my life has been wonderful—I can hear so much better now. To anyone concerned about their hearing, I would strongly encourage a visit. The team is welcoming and not pushy, allowing you to make up your own mind. One of my favorite aspects of visiting SLA Audiology is the joy of laughing and socializing, and I usually hear better when I leave.

"I just wanted to be able to hear during conversations with co-workers and family members."
About 30 years ago, I first realized something was up with my ears when I noticed noises that no one else heard. That's when my hearing loss started, and I just wanted to be able to hear during conversations with co-workers and family members. When my long-time audiologist retired, I had been wearing hearing aids for many years and needed to find someone new. SLA Audiology was recommended to me, and although I was concerned that I would never be able to hear well on the telephone and while watching TV, I contacted them. My first impression of SLA was "WOW"—I was impressed by their knowledge of current devices and the professionalism and friendliness of the office. Hearing aids have had a significant impact on my life, allowing me to talk on my cell phone and listen to my TV with much more clarity than ever before, and I can hear better in a restaurant or group setting by using my Roger. To anyone concerned about their hearing, I would encourage them to seek a consultation with SLA Audiology. My favorite thing about working with SLA is that they introduced me to new technology that I didn't even know existed; plus, the staff is great!
Cinda C.
"Go see them. You will be comprehensively evaluated and given recommendations to make your life better. You don't know until you try."
I first realized something was up with my ears when I was having problems with certain sounds, and my family doctor sent me to an audiologist. It was confirmed that I was missing sounds and I got my first pair of hearing aids over 20 years ago. Initially, I didn't go to SLA Audiology because they didn't exist at that time. However, I feel very fortunate to have found Shannon Austin through my mother-in-law's recommendation—she was right about Shannon being knowledgeable and very understanding. When Shannon opened SLA, I was eager to return because I didn't have any concerns or worries about SLA; I was just glad to be back with an audiologist who knew me and my hearing needs. If not for my hearing aids, I wouldn't be able to clearly understand most conversations. With new technology, I do well and experience excellent clarity, even over the phone with my cellphone, and I can stream TV directly to my aids, making it clearer than for those without hearing loss. To anyone concerned about their hearing, I would say, "Go see them. You will be comprehensively evaluated and given recommendations to make your life better. You don't know until you try." My favorite thing about SLA is that they are always there, willing to answer all your questions and help you through all the advantages of the new technology. Having worked for a hearing aid manufacturer, Shannon knows what makes things tick.

"Loss of hearing is no different than any other medical issue."
I first realized there might be an issue with my hearing when I couldn't hear higher registry sounds like birds and crickets, and had trouble with female voices and some dialogue on TV. Before contacting SLA Audiology, I had no concerns as they came highly recommended. My first impression of them was positive—they were on time, very attentive, friendly, and took the time to work with me. Wearing hearing aids has opened up a world of sound for me; I hear sounds I hadn't heard before and find myself less dependent on closed captioning. For anyone worried about their hearing and considering a visit, I'd say there's nothing to be afraid or embarrassed about—loss of hearing is no different than any other medical issue. My favorite thing about working with SLA Audiology is how friendly they are, with great attention to my needs.

"If you need them, don't wait too long. They will change your life."
I first realized something was up with my hearing when my hearing loss began in my thirties and has steadily deteriorated over the past 40 years. Before reaching out to SLA Audiology, I didn't have any preconceived fears or concerns. Having visited several audiologists, my first impression has been consistently positive, particularly with Shannon. She excels at setting up my hearing aids to provide the best sound and benefit. It's challenging to communicate what you're hearing through new aids, but Shannon uses test results and patient feedback adeptly to program the aids optimally. Without hearing aids, I miss about 95% of conversations, making them essential for both me and those around me. Hearing loss can be exhausting, as constantly repeating or asking "what?" can be tiresome for everyone. To anyone concerned about their hearing, I would advise not to wait too long for hearing aids. They're an adjustment, but they'll change your life. My favorite aspect of working with SLA Audiology is Shannon's expertise and dedication. The facility is pleasant, and Tina, the receptionist, is always knowledgeable and helpful.

"They are very professional and will treat you with respect."
The moment I first realized I might have a hearing challenge was when I struggled to hear high-pitched voices and fast talkers. Before contacting SLA Audiology, my main concern was about how much help anyone could actually provide. However, my first impression of SLA Audiology was very positive—they were good listeners and informative. Since wearing hearing aids, I've noticed a significant reduction in the number of times I need to ask people to repeat themselves. To anyone worried about their hearing and considering a visit, I would say SLA Audiology is very professional and will treat you with respect. One of my favorite things about working with them is that they are conveniently located close to my home, so there's no need to travel to Indianapolis.

"I felt no pressure to make immediate decisions, but I was given great information to make informed decisions."
I first realized I had a hearing challenge when family members complained about the TV being too loud, prompting me to get my hearing checked. Before contacting SLA Audiology, my main concern was explaining what I could and could not hear. My first impression of SLA Audiology was overwhelmingly positive, as every staff member was kind, caring, and helpful. For anyone concerned about their hearing, I would assure them that the staff at SLA Audiology are knowledgeable and extremely helpful, without any pressure to make immediate decisions. You are provided with the necessary information to make informed choices. My favorite thing about working with SLA Audiology is the dedication of the entire staff to ensure I had the best experience possible.

"Please give them a call and make an appointment. You won't be sorry."
I first realized there might be a problem with my hearing in 2015 when I found myself frequently asking people to repeat themselves and turning up the TV volume. This led me to get my hearing checked. I wasn't worried about contacting SLA Audiology because I was referred by a friend who had been my previous audiologist. My first impression of SLA Audiology was that everyone was very cheerful and caring. Since getting my hearing aids, they have made a world of difference in understanding conversations and enjoying TV. To anyone concerned about their hearing, I would say, "Please give them a call and make an appointment. You won't be sorry." My favorite aspect of working with SLA Audiology is how knowledgeable and friendly they are.

"I would encourage them to put aside vanity in place of being involved in the world around them."
I first realized I had a hearing challenge when no matter how much I increased the volume on my phone, I still couldn't communicate effectively with the person on the other end. Initially, I had concerns about how a hearing aid might look due to my short hair, but fortunately, the way it fits into my ear canal works perfectly. My first impressions of SLA Audiology were shaped by my previous experiences accompanying my father and father-in-law to their appointments with Shannon. Both my husband and I were impressed with her professionalism and her ability to make us feel calm about the experience. Wearing a hearing aid in one ear has boosted my confidence in social situations, especially when there's a lot of background noise. I used to be able to compensate, but it was becoming increasingly difficult in large groups. To anyone concerned about their hearing and considering a visit, I would encourage them to make an appointment for a consultation or talk to someone who has been through the experience. It's important to put aside vanity and focus on being involved in the world around you. My favorite thing about working with Dr. Austin and her team is their pleasant and welcoming nature. They always take the time to truly listen to you, whereas many doctors seem to be backing out of the room before they're even done talking.

"I hear things that I never used to hear without the aids, like water running and many other faint things."
I first realized I might have a hearing challenge when I found it very difficult to understand most of the female broadcasters on the news. Some of their voices weren't coming through very clearly. The hearing aids have been a huge help, allowing me to understand about 99% of the news broadcasts now. When I decided to contact SLA Audiology, I had no preconceived fears or concerns. At my age, I knew getting a hearing test was the right move if I wanted to continue communicating effectively and understanding what I heard on the radio and TV. My first impression of SLA Audiology was that everyone in the office was very professional and organized. They had all the right equipment to address my hearing needs. I wear my hearing aids daily until they run down late at night, which usually means they last about 12 to 15 hours. After charging them overnight, I can hear things like running water and other faint sounds that I couldn't hear before. If someone is concerned about their hearing and considering visiting SLA Audiology, I'd say go for it. They take very good care of me, are always helpful, and can accommodate emergencies if needed.

"Good hearing impacts your entire life."
The moment I realized I had a hearing challenge was when I started missing parts of conversations and didn't hear words correctly. Before contacting SLA Audiology, I had no concerns at all and was actually looking forward to a better hearing experience. My first impression of the clinic was that everyone was so friendly and knowledgeable, which made me feel completely at ease. Since wearing hearing aids, every aspect of my life has improved; I can engage more fully in interactions with family and friends, hear clearly in larger spaces, and enjoy TV without blasting the volume. Streaming audio directly to my devices is also incredibly convenient and useful. To anyone concerned about their hearing and considering a visit to SLA Audiology, I would recommend them wholeheartedly; good hearing impacts your entire life. My favorite thing about working with SLA Audiology is how friendly they are. I've never felt rushed, and all my questions and concerns were always addressed.

"They have made me part of the conversation again."
I first realized I had a hearing challenge quite a few years ago when I noticed I was missing parts of conversations with family and friends and had to have the television volume turned up really loud. Despite this awareness, I kept finding excuses not to deal with it. Eventually, I acknowledged it was time to take action. Before contacting SLA Audiology, I had no preconceived fears, but I was worried about dealing with hearing aids and everything it would involve. My first impression of SLA Audiology was very positive; everyone was friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable. Once I started wearing hearing aids, they had a profound impact on my life by making me a part of conversations again. If someone is concerned about their hearing and considering a visit to SLA Audiology, I would strongly encourage them to do it — you really won't regret it. The team at SLA Audiology is incredibly easy to work with, and they are friendly and accommodating.

"Give them a try, won't cost anything to look them over."
I first realized that I might have a hearing challenge when I considered its potential impact on my career. My primary concern before contacting SLA Audiology was the price. However, I felt very comfortable with Dr. Austin during my visit. Since wearing hearing aids, I can definitely say they make a difference in my life. To anyone concerned about their hearing and contemplating a visit, I would suggest giving SLA Audiology a try—it's worth getting looked over, and it doesn't cost anything. My favorite thing about working with them is the people at SLA.

"Education about hearing loss is also key to slowing or preventing future loss."
I first realized I might have a hearing challenge when I began experiencing tinnitus and grew concerned that I had hearing loss, or that it might worsen. Before reaching out to SLA Audiology, I was worried about losing my hearing at such a young age. However, my first impressions of the clinic were that the staff was very professional, supportive, and informative. To anyone worried about their hearing and considering a visit, I would say, don't hesitate to schedule a consultation. Information is important and even if treatment today isn't necessary, you'll have a baseline to measure changes in the future. Education about hearing loss is also key to slowing or preventing future loss. My favorite aspect of working with SLA Audiology is Shannon. She is very thorough and takes the time to explain the purpose of each test and treatment options, showcasing her passion for the field and carefully detailing the available options.

"Don't delay...do it today!"
The moment I first realized something was up with my hearing was when I felt scared because I couldn't hear conversations or the TV and was reluctant to wear hearing aids because I didn't want anyone to see them. Before contacting SLA Audiology, I was embarrassed and worried about what others would say when they noticed the hearing aids. However, I soon discovered that people didn't really notice them. My first impression of SLA Audiology was overwhelmingly positive; Shannon put both me and my wife at ease and addressed every question or concern we had. Everyone at the clinic was welcoming and friendly, making us feel comfortable and like family. Wearing hearing aids has significantly impacted my life by helping me reconnect with my family and life in general. I hadn't been aware of how much I was missing until I could hear conversations clearly and engage in discussions around the table or while out to dinner. My advice to anyone with hearing concerns who is considering a visit is, "don't delay... do it today!" Shannon is incredible, and I'm so glad she opened her own practice. She takes the time to listen to you and treats you with respect and kindness. She even suggested "Roger," which has been a huge help during car trips, dinners out, and watching TV programs.

"Go. It's worth it."
I first realized I might have a hearing challenge due to the constant ringing in my ears, which hearing aids have helped to alleviate. Before contacting SLA Audiology, I didn't have any preconceived fears or concerns. My first impression of the clinic was very positive; the office was nice and clean. Since wearing hearing aids, the ringing in my ears is almost gone, drastically improving my quality of life. For anyone concerned about their hearing and considering a visit, I would simply say, "Go. It's worth it." My favorite thing about working with SLA Audiology is that they are very knowledgeable and effectively allayed my fears that treatment wouldn't help.

"I feel SLA Audiology can solve any hearing problems."
I first realized there was a problem with my hearing after experiencing hearing loss and persistent ringing in my left ear for several years—it truly drives me crazy. When I decided to contact SLA Audiology, I had no preconceived fears or concerns. My initial impression of the clinic was overwhelmingly positive; they are professional, caring, and relatable. Since using the hearing aids, I've found masking to be truly helpful for my tinnitus. To anyone concerned about their hearing and considering a visit, I wholeheartedly believe that SLA Audiology can solve any hearing problems. My favorite aspect of working with them is their caring nature.

"Talk to them about all your issues regarding your hearing."
The first moment I realized I had a hearing challenge was when I could not hear my wife during our conversations. I approached SLA Audiology without any preconceived fears or concerns. My initial impression was how easy it was to talk about my hearing loss with them. Since I started wearing hearing aids, I've been able to hear conversations not only in front of me but also from people talking to the sides and behind me. To anyone concerned about their hearing and considering a visit, I would advise them to talk to SLA Audiology about all their hearing issues. My favorite aspect of working with SLA Audiology is how easy they are to work with.

"Hearing loss is usually such a gradual process you can't believe what you're missing out on until you put hearing aids in!"
About five years ago, I first realized I had a hearing challenge when I struggled to hear people in public settings like restaurants and parties. I even began accusing my husband of mumbling. Initially, I had some preconceived concerns because I had previously purchased hearing aids from another company, but they didn't seem to help, so I stopped wearing them. My first impression of SLA Audiology was very positive as Shannon was very friendly and took the time to thoroughly explain how the hearing aids work. She listened to my concerns and answered all my questions, making her very easy to talk to. Now that I wear hearing aids, I can actually participate in conversations with multiple people talking, and I realize just how much I was missing before. If someone is concerned about their hearing and considering visiting SLA Audiology, I would encourage them to go see them. Shannon is honest with her recommendations, and understanding what you're missing due to gradual hearing loss can be life-changing once you wear hearing aids. My favorite thing about working with SLA Audiology is that everyone there is very friendly, and it's clear they enjoy their jobs.

"If you think you MIGHT have some hearing loss, find out! Hearing loss is tough and the ladies at SLA Audiology make it easier to deal with."
I first realized I had a hearing challenge when tinnitus began disrupting my sleep and annoying my waking hours, about 8 or 10 years before I started wearing hearing aids. Before contacting SLA Audiology, I had no preconceived fears or concerns because a close friend had given me rave reviews about their services. My first impression was that everything my friend said was true—pleasant people, pleasant surroundings, and a knowledgeable and compassionate audiologist truly make SLA Audiology stand out. Wearing hearing aids has undeniably improved my quality of life, as my hearing is very bad and I would be missing out on so much without them. To anyone concerned about their hearing, I would say, "If you think you MIGHT have some hearing loss, find out!" The experience at SLA Audiology is pleasant, and the ladies there make dealing with hearing loss much easier. My favorite thing about working with SLA Audiology is that they focus on me each and every time I'm there.

"Hearing aids are your best answer. They aren't as good as your own ears, but help immensely."
I first realized I may have a hearing challenge when I noticed I wasn't hearing soft-spoken people. I had no preconceived fears or concerns before contacting SLA Audiology; I simply wanted a hearing test to find out how much I was missing. My first impressions of SLA Audiology were very positive – the team is professional, yet kind, and being there feels like being with a friend. Since wearing hearing aids, I've found a significant improvement in my ability to hear, especially soft-spoken individuals. In a room full of people, I no longer have to ask, "What did you say?" To anyone concerned about their hearing, I would say do it immediately. Hearing aids are your best answer. They may not be as good as your natural hearing, but they help immensely. The problems you encounter will likely differ from mine, but the team at SLA Audiology will work diligently to get you hearing as best as they can. They genuinely care about you as a person and get you in right away if you have any issues.

"I encourage you to go & hear aids will give you a better life."
I first realized I might have a hearing challenge during a moment when something felt off with my ears. Despite this realization, I didn't have any preconceived fears or concerns before contacting SLA Audiology. My first impression was that it felt comfortable to be there, which reinforced my decision. I currently wear hearing aids and am very thankful for both them and the service I receive. To anyone concerned about their hearing, I strongly encourage you to visit SLA Audiology; hearing aids will undeniably give you a better life. My favorite aspect of working with them is walking in and being greeted by a friendly receptionist.

"Dr. Austin is professional and patient."
I first realized I might have a hearing challenge when I started having difficulty hearing my grandchildren's voices and those of my husband. I was initially convinced it was because they talked too softly. Before contacting SLA Audiology, I had tried hearing aids, but they wouldn't stay in my ears, which was a concern for me. My first impression of the clinic was that everyone was helpful and caring. However, it was almost six months before I knew what Dr. Shannon looked like, as she fitted me while wearing a mask. When I finally saw her, I found her to be younger and prettier than I had imagined. Since wearing hearing aids, I put them in when I get up and don't take them out until I go to bed, which perhaps says best how much they have impacted my life. For anyone concerned about their hearing and considering visiting SLA Audiology, I would describe Dr. Austin as professional and patient. My favorite thing about working with the clinic is that she thoroughly addressed my questions, and I believe I still have one follow-up visit for free.

"Shannon is awesome. No pressure approach."
The moment I first realized I had a hearing challenge was during meetings when I struggled to hear. Before contacting SLA Audiology, my main concern was the cost, as I had previously undergone a hearing test at IU Health. My first impression of SLA Audiology was their personalized service, with a hearing test that was more focused and complete. Since I started wearing hearing aids every day, they have significantly improved my day-to-day life. I would tell anyone concerned about their hearing and considering a visit that Shannon is awesome and provides a no-pressure approach. My favorite thing about working with SLA Audiology is the personal service—they truly know who their patients are.

"The difference was night and day. I would definitely recommend SLA to anyone with a hearing problem."
I don't really remember the exact moment I first noticed I was hard of hearing, but I found myself frequently asking, "What did you say?" My initial contact with an audiologist, which wasn't with SLA Audiology, was a very poor experience – it took place in a rented small conference room with a make-shift setup and low-quality hearing aids. In stark contrast, visiting SLA Audiology was 100% different. Dr. Austin had a permanent office with rooms of equipment and a genuinely caring demeanor. My first impressions of SLA were excellent because Dr. Austin took the time to address my questions and concerns, running multiple tests, including using a soundproof chamber to thoroughly understand my hearing issues. She even took a mold of my ear for properly fitting hearing aids. Although I don't wear them all the time, I should, because they allow me to hear so much better when they are in. For anyone concerned about their hearing, I would wholeheartedly recommend SLA, as my terrible first experience with another audiologist turned into a fantastic one here—the difference was night and day. My favorite aspect of SLA is the staff's genuine care, and it really shows.

"Go and find out if all is okay or how your life can improve...if you consider hearing aids."
I first realized I had a hearing challenge due to the fear of not being able to hear police, fire, or emergency vehicles, which could lead to hindering their response or causing additional problems myself. Despite this realization, I didn't have any preconceived fears before contacting SLA Audiology because I already had hearing aids that needed attention or an upgrade. My first impression of the clinic was the positive office atmosphere, which stood out to me. Since getting my hearing aids adjusted, I have found it much easier to hear and converse in both small and large groups. My TV and radio are no longer turned up full blast, and I can now hear minute sounds that I wasn't previously aware of—I'm no longer fearful of missing approaching emergency vehicles. The biggest change is that I'm not constantly thinking "WHAT WAS THAT?" in different settings. If someone is concerned about their hearing and considering a visit, I would say, "Go and find out if all is okay or how your life can improve...if you consider hearing aids." My favorite thing about working with SLA Audiology is that Shannon and Tina are the best!
