I would tell anyone concerned about their hearing and considering a visit that Shannon is awesome and provides a no-pressure approach. My favorite thing about working with SLA Audiology is the personal service—they truly know who their patients are.

I don't really remember the exact moment I first noticed I was hard of hearing, but I found myself frequently asking, "What did you say?" My initial contact with an audiologist, which wasn't with SLA Audiology, was a very poor experience – it took place in a rented small conference room with a make-shift setup and low-quality hearing aids. In stark contrast, visiting SLA Audiology was 100% different. Dr. Austin had a permanent office with rooms of equipment and a genuinely caring demeanor. My first impressions of SLA were excellent because Dr. Austin took the time to address my questions and concerns, running multiple tests, including using a soundproof chamber to thoroughly understand my hearing issues. She even took a mold of my ear for properly fitting hearing aids. Although I don't wear them all the time, I should, because they allow me to hear so much better when they are in. For anyone concerned about their hearing, I would wholeheartedly recommend SLA, as my terrible first experience with another audiologist turned into a fantastic one here—the difference was night and day. My favorite aspect of SLA is the staff's genuine care, and it really shows.

I first realized I had a hearing challenge due to the fear of not being able to hear police, fire, or emergency vehicles, which could lead to hindering their response or causing additional problems myself. Despite this realization, I didn't have any preconceived fears before contacting SLA Audiology because I already had hearing aids that needed attention or an upgrade. My first impression of the clinic was the positive office atmosphere, which stood out to me. Since getting my hearing aids adjusted, I have found it much easier to hear and converse in both small and large groups. My TV and radio are no longer turned up full blast, and I can now hear minute sounds that I wasn't previously aware of—I'm no longer fearful of missing approaching emergency vehicles. The biggest change is that I'm not constantly thinking "WHAT WAS THAT?" in different settings. If someone is concerned about their hearing and considering a visit, I would say, "Go and find out if all is okay or how your life can improve...if you consider hearing aids." My favorite thing about working with SLA Audiology is that Shannon and Tina are the best!
