Dr. Shannon L. Austin is passionate about professional, individualized hearing care and cherishes the special bonds that are created with patients and their families. She believes each patient deserves a unique and welcoming experience each time they visit.   Her desire is to be a trusted hearing health advisor to her patients and the community because she understands the frustration and isolation that hearing loss can cause. 

Shannon completed her Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) at Ball State University and her undergraduate degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Indiana State University. 

She previously spent fifteen years in clinical audiology on Indianapolis’ west side as well as six years teaching undergraduate Audiology courses at Butler University.  She also has three years of industry experience as an Account Executive for a major hearing aid manufacturer.  She loves to teach and mentor audiology students, and has been a clinical supervisor for students from Ball State, Purdue, and  Indiana University.  SLA Audiology fulfills a dream of private practice ownership and brings her back to her genuine joy of patient care. 

Originally from Sullivan, Indiana, Dr. Austin and her husband have made Brownsburg their home since 2002. They have two daughters.

Dr. Kaitie Alsman is originally from Memphis, TN and came to the Midwest to attend undergrad at Butler University. She solidified her choice to study Communication Sciences and Disorders following the Intro to Audiology course taught by Dr. Shannon Austin.

Following graduation from Butler, “Dr. Kaitie” attended Indiana University where she obtained her Doctor of Audiology Degree. Dr. Kaitie has been practicing audiology for 7 years. She started out her career in a large private practice ENT office on the west side of Indianapolis. Dr. Shannon Austin continued to influence Dr. Kaitie by fostering her development when they worked together as soon as Kaitie passed her boards and officially entered their field.  

Most recently, Dr. Kaitie spent the last 3.5 years at an Indianapolis pediatric hospital ENT clinic. Her decision to join SLA Audiology was two-fold to have the opportunity to work in a patient focused environment , and to provide pediatric services on the west side of Indianapolis; where she knew there are very limited services available. Working with Dr. Shannon Austin again was icing on the cake. Dr. Kaitie is accepting new patients of all ages, with a special interest in the pediatric population.
